The Speech and Hearing Department of Father Muller Medical College Hospital participated in the General Health Check-Up and Cancer Screening Awareness Camp held at Our Lady of Mercy Church Hall, Fajir, on 11 October 2026, from 8:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The department was represented by Ms. Melissa Saldanha, Assistant Professor, along with interns Ms. Alisha Mascarenhas, Ms. Diya M. P., and Ms. Kesiya Koshy. The team provided hearing screening, voice assessment, and screening for child language disorders to individuals attending the camp.
Approximately 13 individuals were screened during the camp and received appropriate guidance regarding their speech, language, voice, and hearing concerns. The screening aimed to promote awareness of communication health, facilitate the early identification of potential disorders, and highlight the importance of timely assessment and intervention.
The department's participation contributed to the camp's community outreach efforts by extending speech and hearing services to the local population. The initiative emphasized the importance of identifying communication-related difficulties early and seeking appropriate professional evaluation when necessary.
