Building Life Skills for Mental Well-Being Programme

The Department of Speech and Hearing organized a programme on “Building Life Skills for Mental Well-Being” on 20th August 2026 (Thursday) from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Audio Visual Hall, Knowledge Centre, Father Muller College. The programme was conducted for the 1st-year B. ASLP, 1st-year M.Sc. Audiology, and 1st-year M.Sc. Speech Language Pathology students of the Academic Year 2026–27.

The programme was co-organised by the organising committee: Ms. Lavita D’Souza, Speech-Language Pathologist Grade-I; Ms. Jenin, Speech-Language Pathologist Grade-I; Mr. Anann, AV Committee; and Ms. Jiya, Media Committee.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by Ms. Lavita D’Souza, who welcomed the Resource Person, faculty members, and students and highlighted the importance of developing life skills for maintaining mental well-being in academic, personal, and professional life.

Dr. Rashmi Appaji, Consultant Psychiatrist and Assistant Professor, Department of Psychiatry, Father Muller Medical College, Mangaluru, served as the Resource Person for the programme. She addressed the students on the importance of life skills and their role in promoting mental well-being. Dr. Rashmi Appaji, with more than a decade of clinical experience, shared valuable insights and practical strategies to help students understand and manage various aspects of mental well-being. The session was interactive and encouraged students to actively participate, reflect on their own experiences, and develop healthy approaches to coping with challenges in their academic and personal lives.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the Resource Person, Principal, faculty members, and students for their valuable participation and support in making the programme successful.

As a token of appreciation, Dr. Rashmi Appaji was presented with a certificate of appreciation for her valuable contribution and for sharing her expertise and insights with the students.
