The Department of Speech and Hearing at Father Muller College celebrated Children’s Day on November 17th 2025 with a vibrant “Under the Sea” theme. Organized by 3rd year UG students, the event featured fun-filled activities for 40 children attending speech therapy, children showed up wearing charming under-the-sea animal costumes with their parents.
The programme commenced with the entry of the children accompanied by their clinicians, marking a warm and cheerful beginning to the programme. The formal proceedings were conducted by the Master of Ceremony, Mr. Reuben, a 3rd-year UG student.
The dignitaries present for the occasion included the Director, Rev. Fr. Faustine Lucas Lobo; Rev. Fr. George Jeevan Sequeira; and Dr. Anil Shetty, Head of the Department of Pediatrics. Dr. Ramandeep Kaur, Head of the Department of Speech and Language Pathology, extended a formal and heartfelt welcome to the gathering.
A thoughtfully presented skit by the 2nd-year UG students highlighted key aspects of child development and emphasized the pivotal role of parents in supporting their children’s growth. This was followed by the Director Rev. Fr. Faustine Lucas Lobo’s address during which he conveyed an inspiring message. He described every child as a precious gift from God—innate with purity, honesty, and unique qualities—and underscored the responsibility of parents in nurturing these attributes. He further encouraged the identification and development of each child’s individual talents and expressed his hope that every child would grow to find a meaningful place and identity within society.
Subsequently, gifts were distributed to all the children by Rev. Fr. Faustine Lucas Lobo.
The informal segment of the programme then commenced, led by hosts Ms. Jeana and Ms. Jevisha. The 1st-year UG students opened this section with an energetic and well-synchronized dance performance that added vibrancy and excitement to the event. This was followed by a series of engaging games conducted by the 1st-year PG students, which encouraged enthusiastic participation and brought immense joy to the children.
Overall, the Children’s Day celebration was a vibrant and inclusive event that reflected the Department’s ongoing commitment to promoting joy, development, and meaningful experiences for children.
