Course Inauguration of 19th batch of the Bachelor of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (B.ASLP)

Father Muller College inaugurated the 19thbatch of the Bachelor of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (B.ASLP) program for the academic year 2025–2026. The ceremony was held at the Muller Mini Hall, Convention Centre, in the presence of dignitaries, faculty, students, and parents.

The program commenced with the arrival of dignitaries and a prayer song by second-year B. ASLP students. Prof. Cynthia Santhmayor, Principal, delivered the welcome address. This was followed by the Lighting of the Lamp, symbolizing the beginning of the students’ professional journey.

The Chief Guest, Dr. Rohan Monis, Chief Administrative Officer, Kanachur Hospital, and Governing Board Member, FMCI, congratulated students and described the institution as a gem in healthcare education. He encouraged them to look beyond artificial intelligence tools like ChatGPT and similar distractions, and to value empathy, human connection, and meaningful communication in their journey as future professionals.

He was felicitated with a memento by Rev. Fr George Jeevan Sequeira, Administrator, FMMCH.

In the Presidential Address, Rev. Fr. Faustine Lucas Lobo, Director of FMCI, warmly welcomed the students and highlighted how the institution draws learners from across the country for its commitment to excellence and compassionate service. He emphasized the importance of holistic development in all aspects such as academic, physical, mental, and spiritual, and underscored the vital role speech and hearing professionals play in supporting individuals with communication difficulties. Stressing empathy and dignity, he urged students to reduce humiliation and become instruments of healing in the lives of those they serve.

Ms. Melissa Benedicta Saldanha, Coordinator of the inaugural program, delivered the Vote of Thanks, and the formal session ended with the Institutional Anthem.

After a short refreshment break, the Orientation Session began. Each student introduced themselves and received a small plant symbolizing growth and new beginnings. A documentary showcasing the legacy and mission of Father Muller Charitable Institutions was screened.

The session continued with important institutional and course guidelines by Prof. Cynthia Santhmayor, Sr. Hilda Ferrao, Warden of Ave Maria Hostel, outlined hostel rules, and Rev. Fr. John Vas, Chaplain, shared insights into campus spiritual life.

The event concluded with the National Anthem, marking a warm and inspiring start for the new batch.
